Before treatment:
When the patient was born, a cesarean section had to be performed on his mother. The patient has had a history of hypoxia since birth. The patient received oxygen masks for breathing after he was born. He weighed 3KG at birth. The patient suffered from a delay in intellectual and motor development after birth. The patient suffered from a slight epileptic seizure when he was 4 months old. He received phenobarbital as treatment, and afterwards he did not have another seizure. At that time, the patient also had rehabilitation training on a daily basis. Before the treatment, the patient was unable to turn over, sit, crawl or walk. In addition,, he had a speech disorder, in which he could only say "A", "Yes", "Mama" and "Daddy".
Admission PE:
Bp: 80/50 mmHg, Hr: 102/min. Br: 21/min. Height: 101cm, weight: 15Kg. He suffered from developmental retardation. His tongue was extended. He snored a lot while sleeping. There were three obvious signs of depression. He often coughed while eating. His nutrition was normal. His skin and mucous membrane were intact, with no yellow stains. His thorax was symmetrical. The respiratory sounds in both lungs were clear, with no dry or moist rales. His heartbeat was strong and heart rate was normal. There was no obvious murmur in the auscultatory valve area. His abdomen was flat, without any masses. The liver and spleen were not palpable under the ribs.
Nervous System Examination:
Thiago Torales Falcon was alert. He had a speech disorder, and only could say "A", "Yes", "Mama" and "Daddy". He could not perform the memory, calculation or orientation examinations. He had a poor ability of understanding and only had a very basic ability of communicating with his parents. Both pupils were round and equal in size, with a diameter is 3.5mms. Both pupils had a sensitive reaction to light stimulus. The forehead wrinkle pattern was symmetrical. The nasolabial sulcus was equal in depth. In supine position, the patient could move his neck. He had trouble supporting his own head while in a seated position. He could not turn over by himself. The muscle strength of his waist and back was poor. He could not maintain a seated position by himself. Both hands had the ability to grasp objects. Both lower limbs had the ability to move. He could lift both lower limbs off of the surface of the bed. He was unable to complete the muscle strength examination using any of his four limbs. The muscle tone of both of his upper limbs was normal. The muscle tone of both of his lower limbs was higher than normal. The abdominal reflex was normal. The tendon reflex of both of his upper limbs was active. The tendon reflex of both lower limbs was also active. Bilateral Achilles tendon reflex was normal. The right ankle clonus was positive. The bilateral sucking reflex was negative. The bilateral palm jaw reflex was positive. The bilateral Hoffmann sign was negative. The Rossolimo sign of both upper limbs was negative. The bilateral Babinski sign was positive. He could not complete the deep sensation and shallow sensation examinations. He also could not complete the coordination of movement examination.
Treatment:
After admission, Thiago Torales Falcon took the relevant examinations. He received treatment to improve his blood circulation in order to increase the blood supply to the damaged nerves, activate stem cells in the body, nourish the neurons, and enhance immunity and anti-infection. This treament was combined with physical rehabilitation training.
Post Treatment:
During admission, the blood routine was WBC 13.5*109/L MCV 81.4fL, which was abnormal. After treatment, the patient's blood routine results have been normal. There is no cough or expectoration. After treatment, the patient's height: 102.5cm, weight: 16.5kg. The weight and height have both increased. The patient's intelligence, language and muscle strength of his limbs have all improved. He now sleeps more soundly as compared to before. There has not been any evidence of snoring while sleeping, and the three signs of depression are no longer apparent. The patient is able to eat more food. He has no obvious cough while eating food. The patient's attention, comprehension and memory have all improved. He also has an improved independent language ability. Both hands have a better ability to grasp objects. He can support his head better when he is in a seated position. The muscle strength of the waist and back has also increased. With some assistance, the patient can maintain a seated position for one minute. He can turn over by himself. The muscle tone of both lower limbs has been reduced. With some assistance, the patient has the awareness to stand up. The tendon reflex of all four limbs is now almost normal. The bilateral ankle clonus has changed to negative.
