Before treatment:
The baby was born prematurely at 28 weeks of gestation and weighed 1050g at birth. After his birth there was no spontaneous breathing and he was given ventilator assisted breathing for about 40 days. He was put in an incubator and got out of the hospital after 3 months. One and a half months after discharge visual impairment was found and the local hospital diagnosed “retinopathy of prematurity." There was no effective treatment and at present he has only a sense of light.
His spirit is good, diet and sleep are basically normal, urination and defecation functions are normal.

Admission PE:
Blood pressure: 107/63mmHg, heart rate: 80/min, breathing rate: 20/min, body temperature: 36.2 degrees, height, 122cm; weight, 23.5kg. The patient has good nutrition and normal physical development. There were no yellow stains or bleeding spots of the skin or mucosa, a symmetrical chest, clear respiratory sounds of both lungs and no dry or moist rales heard. He had strong heart sounds, regular heart rhythm, no obvious murmur heard in the valves, a flat and soft abdomen, no masses and a normal liver and spleen.

Nervous System Examination:
The pateint was alert, had clear speech, normal memory, calculation and  orientation abilities. He had a 3mm diameter pupil in both eyes, partial white covering of both pupils, no reaction to light and normal intraocular pressure. There was only light perception present for both eyes. There was light yellowing of the left fundus, no others observed; nothing observed on the right fundus. He had a symmetrical forehead wrinkle and nasolabial fold, symmetrical teeth-showing, tongue in the middle when extended and free neck movement. There was normal muscle tone of the 4 limbs, grade 5  muscle power of the 4 limbs. No abdominal reflex was induced and there was normal tendon reflex of the 4 limbs. A negative sucking reflex, negative palm-jaw reflex, Hoffmann sign, Rossolimo sign, and Babinski sign bilaterally. There was normal deep and shallow sensation and normal coordination with a negative meningeal irritation sign.

Treatment:
After the admission he received 3 nerve regeneration treatments (neural stem cells and mesenchymal stem cells) to repair his damaged optic nerves and retinal cells, replace dead nerves and cells, nourish nerves and cells, improve body environment, regulate his immune system and improve blood circulation. This was combined with rehabilitation training.   

Post-treatment:
After 14 days treatment his vision got better. He was now able to discern fingers and the size of objects in front of him and he could avoid objects by himself when walking.
