Before treatment:
The patient is 52 years old female. She suffered from diminution of vision during the night for 26 years and lost visual field for 13 years. She was diagnosed as Retinitis Pigmentosa on Sept. 2nd, 2014.
Admission PE:
Bp: 118/70mmHg; Hr: 78/min. Her heart and other organs were normal.
Nervous System Examination:
The patient was alert with good spirit. The forehead wrinkle pattern was symmetrical. The teeth were symmetrical and the tongue was centered. Cheek blowing was normal. The movement of her eyeballs to each side was good, reacted well to light stimulus. The radius was 10cm’s tubular visual field. Both eyes’ color sensation were normal. Her night vision was bad and photophobic. Visual acuity test (3-meter visual acuity test chart): left eye corrected visual acuity: 0.15, right eye corrected visual acuity: 0.25. Through use of an ophthalmoscope: The color of right eye bottom was light yellow. There were black osteoid sediment diffused, the border of optic nerve head and macular were clear. AV ratio was 1:3. The color of left eye bottom was light yellow. There were a lot of black osteoid sediment diffused, the border of optic nerve head and macular were clear. AV ratio was 1:3. She could raise her soft palate. Her neck was soft without resistance. She could shrug her shoulders strongly. The muscle power and muscle tension of four limbs were normal. The tendon reflex was normal. Both sides’ pathological sign was negative. The patient can finish coordinate movement normally. Meningeal irritation sign was negative.
PA ERG: both sides F-ERG retinal rods, visual cone’s maximum reaction had no undulate form, it was RP.
Treatment:
After her admission, we gave patient treatment to initiate fix and regeneration of retina and optic nerves, react the stem cells, nourish the neurons, improve the blood circulation, and regulate immunity. We also gave her rehabilitation training.
Post-treatment:
After the treatment，the corrected visual acuity of both eyes was 0.6 in three meters’ standard visual chart. The blood circulation in fundus was better. The black osteoid sediment diffused was less. The fundus color was better. The blood supply was better. The cyclogram: both eyes’ vision field was wider. Recheck ERG: electric potential was more (left was before, right was after), both sides F-ERG retinal rods, visual cone’s maximum reaction had low undulate form, so there was new retinal rods and visual cone.
