Medical History:

Mr. Lin was presented with a decrease in memory since 1999. He showed memory decline accompanied with a decrease in calculation ability. His ability to work also decreased during this time. His intelligence level was normal. Between 1999 and 2003, his condition gradually worsened and eventually became serious. In 2003, a CT scan of the head showed no abnormal results. One instance in 2005, Mr. Lin went out for a while and was unable to find his way home, so he went to the local hospital to receive a CT scan, and the results showed that he had multiple cerebral infarctions, with no dyskinesia or dysphonia. In 2007, his condition became further aggravated and the amount of sleep decreased, he would often talk to himself, put the wrong clothing on and would routinely forget the names of his family members.

Head CT Results:

2009-2-15: White matter demyelination.

2009-7-16: The right side basal ganglia area and bilateral corona radiata   cerebral infarction. White matter demyelination; brain atrophy.

In February, 2009, Mr. Lin became more temperamental, incoherent, and displayed violent behaviour toward others. His condition was more serious during the night time. He went to see a doctor in the local hospital and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's dementia, cerebrovascular disease leading to dementia. He was given antipsychotics including Olanzapine, Quetiapine Fumarate, Perphenazine and Citalopram HBr. But these medications were not very effective.

Mr. Lin's family members were increasingly worried about his condition, so they decided to seek further treatment, and were introduced by some friends to Dr. Wu and Dr. Wang, who they then consulted with.

Treatment:

Mr. Lin received a complete examination and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's dementia. He was then given treatment in order to expand the blood vessels, medications to nourish the neurons, had the stem cells activated and transplanted. This was combined with rehabilitation.

Post Treatment:

Mr. Lin's condition has shown good improvement. His dysphoria has disappeared. He is emotionally stable and his quality of sleep has improved. He is assisted whenever he needs to use the bathroom. His talking to himself has decreased. He can better understand a question asked to him and is able to answer with simple responses. One example is when a family member asks him if he wants to eat, he will respond with either "yes" or "no". Whenever another person greets him or shakes his hand, he smiles and shakes their hand. His walking ability has also remarkable improved: Before the treatment, he had difficulty walking without assistance. After the treatment, he no longer needs assistance and is much stronger and more stable.

Mr. Lin's treatment program has been completed and the requirements for discharge have been met.

Mr. Lin and his family have expressed their gratitude to all the doctors and nurses. The entire staff is hopeful that the progress that Mr. Lin has seen while at our hospital will continue.
